Healing with Reiki, Meet Christine Collica

What inspired you to find Reiki?

I had been a NYC public school teacher for ten years, and the curriculum was being

micromanaged to the point where I was given a script to read from in order to teach my eighth grade ELA classes. I am a creative person, and I knew that this form of control and

standardization would have detrimental effects on students and teachers. I just had this knowing that the world needed healing, and so I found Reiki. Healing became far more rewarding than teaching.

What drives you to do what you do? What motivates you?

I have an internal motivation. I have always had healing hands. It was always natural and easy for me to help people through compassion, love, faith and understanding.

What is something most people don't know about the business?

Reiki is enigmatic to begin with, so just getting people to understand that reiki is the the life force energy that is channeled through me to the client to help balance their chakras is what most people need help understanding. It’s quite scientific at times, and then ultimately it is a matter of faith.

What would your customers say they love most about you?

Feeling heard and cared for in a way that allows the flow of universal life force energy to

balance their chakras as they simply quiet their minds and meditate with an open heart.

What are your greatest challenges?

Reiki is not a tangible exchange, it is difficult for most people to have faith in the process.

What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had working with a customer?

I worked with a woman that was really stuck, and after just two sessions, she was up and

running, working, and in the flow. As I worked with her, I realized that her imbalances were all in her third eye and throat chakra. We spent hours talking. She needed to feel heard, and understood, and those hours we spend talking turned out to be just the right reiki for her. It was miraculous really.

What made you choose St. Augustine as your home?

Not so ironically, I fell in love with the energy in town. I also really appreciated the open and friendly people here as well. I had the knowing that it was home the very first day I came to check it out. It was that simple.

What do you love most about living in St. Augustine?

I love everything about St. Augustine. I especially love that we are surrounded by water. Water is the ultimate healer.
