Tell me what inspired you to get into Essential Oils?
Being a Breast Cancer survivor, I am always researching alternative ways to take care of my health. I purchase quite a few of my supplements from Dr. Josh Axe and started to take notice of the history and health benefits of the Essential Oils he sold, which lead me into the wonderful world of Essential Oils. Dr. Axe offered a Certification as Essential Oil Coach and I was certified by Dr. Axe and Jordan Rubin in 2017. I knew I wanted to pass along to as many people as possible what I have learned about Essential Oils so I researched for over a year and after evaluating all my options, I choose to use and be a distributor of Young Living Essential Oils.
What types of oils do you find the most beneficial in everyday life?
A few of my favorites are:
Lavender - Skin – Stress – Sleep
Lavender essential oil is the most used essential oil in the world today, but the benefits of lavender were actually discovered over 2,500 years ago. Because of its powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative, calming and antidepressive properties, lavender oil benefits abound and it’s been used both cosmetically and therapeutically for centuries.
Frankincense – Overall Health - Spiritual - Immune System – Skin
Frankincense essential oil is the King of all oils. This happens to be my favorite oil – I diffuse during meditation, inhale and use on skin. Used in aromatherapy that can offer a variety of health benefits, including helping relieve chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, and boosting immunity.
Lemon – Uplifting – Household Cleaning – Cleanse toxins from the body
Lemon essential oil is indeed one of the most “essential” oils to have on hand, as it can be used for so many purposes, from a natural teeth whitener, household cleaner, and laundry freshener, to a mood booster and nausea reliever. You are covering a lot of ground with this one bottle of essential oil!
Peppermint – Energizer – Digestion – Allergies
Peppermint essential oil is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils in the world and should be in everyone’s medicine cabinet. It can be used aromatically, topically and internally to address a number of health concerns, from muscles aches and seasonal allergy symptoms to low energy and digestive complaints.
These are just a few – there are over 300 essential oils on earth but you only need ten to twenty to build a great alternative to providing support to all body systems and overall well-being.
What did you do prior to Young Living?
Since 1983 I have been working, still do, in the Telecommunications business. I design telephone systems for corporations. I would be that person behind the Press 1, 2 etc software and even dial tone down to the desktop. Telecommunication has always been an ever-changing challenging business so I’m always learning and that is what I enjoy. Now that I’m with YL, I am better equipped to handle the stress that comes with this type of business.
Where are you from?
Originally Pennsylvania, my family was in the gas and oil business so we moved quite a bit between PA, Ohio and West Virginia. I went with my mother on her second honeymoon to Daytona Beach, Florida, yes…that’s right so you can guess how that marriage went! When I saw the ocean I knew at 15 years old I had to move as soon as I graduated and I did. I consider myself from Florida now!
What brought you to St. Augustine?
My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to live on a boat, so we concentrated on downsizing for a couple of years and bought our boat before Hurricane Matthew, unfortunately, when we were finally ready to move aboard, the hurricane was ready to arrive. The boat was at The Conch House and was damaged so it took another year to do the repairs. Hurricane Irma then delayed us further, but eventually, we moved on and it’s been about a year now. We are loving the boat life, boat people, and especially St Augustine.
What other types of things are Essential oils used for?
I think a better question might be “what are Essential oils not used for” because you can incorporate essential oils into every part of your everyday routine from waking up to working out to cleaning house to sleep.
